“I was an avid reader of Scout books for a while before I started writing Cissy. Scout has shown it can go toe-to-toe with the giants by focusing on content, taking risks, and backing their creators. Now I am humbled to be shoulder to shoulder with those great creators. I have dreamed about this opportunity. Now that it is here, I hope that Cissy can hold its own.” - Charles Chester, writer

“Just like Howie himself, this series is energetic, hilarious, and endlessly charming. Get it while it’s hot!” Mat Groom, writer of INFERNO GIRL RED, SELF/MADE (Image Comics), ULTRAMAN (Marvel Comics).

"I loved this engaging and delightful comic - delightful despite being largely about a murderous hell hound! Not everything has to be epically convoluted, and this book engages with believable dialogue and a no-messing pace. The characters are likable, and the art is charming, with very solid storytelling beats. Treat yourself!" Scout Comics & Sam Moore Have Partnered With Look Mom! Productions To Develop THE TRAVELER'S GUIDE TO FLOGORIA As An Animated Series.

July 11th, 2023 --Scout Comics & Entertainment and creator Sam Moore have partnered with Josh Bowen and Look Mom! Productions (Blue Ant Media) to develop Moore's sci-fi epic adventure tale THE TRAVELER'S GUIDE TO FLOGORIA as an animated series.

TRAVELER'S GUIDE TO FLOGORIA is an epic, alien world-spanning adventure that’s part Mad Max road movie, part Stand by Me coming of age journey, and part otherworldly travel and food show. It’s the story of an average joe, trying to survive in a world that’s 100% not average and 150% not Earth. We follow Harry Blandford as he attempts to navigate his way through the fantastic world of Flogoria. But the bizarre flora, fauna, and customs of his new environment aren’t the only things he has to contend with. He also has to learn to overcome the fears and anxieties of his, at times, uncooperative mind.

Look Mom! recently produced DOOMLANDS, created by Josh O'Keefe, for The Roku Channel. They also produced the award-winning series GARY AND HIS DEMONS, created by Mark Little, which was produced for VRV but later moved to Amazon Prime for its second season.

Josh Bowen wrote and Executive Produced the hit short format animated comedy series Goodwin vs. Badwin. In 2013, Josh joined Blue Ant to launch the adult animated comedy shorts program Bite on Mondo. The shorts were compiled into a series called Night Sweats, which airs on Teletoon and Adult Swim in Canada. Josh is currently spearheading Look Mom! Productions and in his spare time, Josh enjoys writing his bio and referencing himself in the third person.

Scout Comics & Entertainment was founded in 2015 and has over 250 titles in their catalog. Scout books have sold to Disney, Amazon Studios, Rooster Teeth, and FilmNation, among others.

SYNOPSIS

New York. 1939. Comics creator Jack Levi places his life and career on the line when he begins an illicit affair with the femme fatale lover of his mafia boss publisher. So we were ecstatic when an industry firebrand like Scout Comics took the project onboard. Under their banner, time has proven us to be in the most capable of hands. And our experience with Scout editorial has been second to none!” Shane Berryhill, writer/co-creator, COMIC BOOKS KILL

SYNOPSIS

The Travelers Guide To Flogoria is an epic, alien world-spanning adventure that’s part Mad Max road movie, part Stand by Me coming of age journey, and part otherworldly travel and food show.

Whether he’s fighting off badlands bandits, trying to sneak past a nest of Snark Dragons, learning how to fire a Zarboogian Nork Rifle, or just trying to order lunch at a Flogorian restaurant, nothing is going to be easy for Harry Blandford.

THE SETUP

The small harbor town of Lytteltoon is moderately famous for one thing: The Kangalang Harbor Monster. Ever since the first sighting in 1855, tens of people have come to the area hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive creature. Last year, young Jimmy Brongle said he saw it, but that ended up being a lazy duck sitting atop a discarded sex doll.

Harry Blandford’s boss at The Creekchurch Press is busy working on a story about an old lady and a potato that looks like Tom Jones. So Harry (the newspaper’s graphic designer) has been lumped with the task of taking some fresh photos of Jork Smithe, an old sea dog that’s been telling tales about the Kangalang for decades.

He’s not a photographer or a journalist, so Harry’s already out of his comfort zone, and Harry Blandford hates being out of his comfort zone. He just wants to get in, take some passable photos, and get out. Then he can get back to the office, so he can pretend to work, while he looks at pictures of overweight animals on the internet. Harry won’t be seeing any chonky raccoons or chubby marmots anytime soon. It turns out the Kangalang is very real, and he’s going to meet it in the very near future.

QUOTE FROM THE CREATOR SAM MOORE

"I’ve had the world of the TRAVELERS GUIDE TO FLOGORIA in my head for a long time. It’s a world that I would think of when I couldn’t sleep, a place that I would daydream about when I was supposed to be working. I would think about what would happen if I suddenly found myself on an alien world. Could I eat the food? Would the underwear fit me? Do they have karaoke? You know, all the important stuff. I can’t thank the awesome people at Scout Comics enough for helping me get this story out of my head and onto the page."

"Working with Scout is a huge honor for me. It's thanks to them that I have started to have a "name" in the American comic book industry, and I can call this a real job. Having a publisher like Scout is the best thing for me because—working alone as I do (and as I want)—they leave me total freedom and control of my IPs. That said, if I have any needs, I can count on my editor, the graphic design crew, and all the other members of the team. What more can you ask for?" -- Marco Fontanili, writer/creator

Creator Quote

“This book means a lot as my first creator-owned series and I’m proud to have a name like Scout behind it. Taking the Internet hostage is something many parents have fantasized about, and now we get a taste of what that might look like.” -- Jay Sandlin

Reviews & Testimonials

“Barbie Reed may be breaking the internet, but she's saving comics. This book is exciting, politically pertinent, and brilliantly illustrated.”—Blake’s Buzz

“An engrossing introduction that addresses the fears of an all-too-familiar reality but with the sort of technicolor bombast only comics can deliver. Mom is coming to f**k some sh*t up, and this aging punk cannot wait to read what happens next!”—Eric Palicki (Fake Empire, Atlantis Wasn’t Built For Tourists)

“In a time where standing up for what is right is needed more and more, Jay Sandlin and his creative team delivers an entertaining comic adventure about activism that corrals the idea of freedom of speech and the freedom to assemble through the lens of a tech world that’s being heavily guarded and borderline ostracized by a warden of a President. With shades of what could come in real life, Mom Breaks the Internet is an engaging look at people fighting back, one that is inspiring and artistically captivating.”—Brian Hawkins (The Vineyard, Black Cotton)
